About Melasma

Image of a woman with melasma on her cheek
A frequently observed skin condition at the clinic, melasma is distinguished by dark grey/brown patches on the skin, which typically manifest symmetrically on the cheeks, nose, forehead, upper lip, and jawline.

This condition primarily impacts women, and is often associated with pregnancy, however, it can affect women of all ages.

The exact cause is unknown but is thought to be the result of an over-production of pigment-producing cells in the skin.

The Melasma treatment process

There is no cure for Melasma at the moment, and it can go away by itself, especially after pregnancy, but there are several treatment options that can reduce its appearance. Some creams can help lighten the skin. Topical steroids may also be suggested for more severe cases.

ProXN xanthohumol therapy is 30 times stronger than vitamin C and is an exceptionally potent antioxidant that is effective against recurrent melasma. Dr Mittal will discuss your treatment options during your consultation

Melasma treatment after care

After applying the recommended cream to the affected areas, you can immediately return to daily activities. Therapies with xanthohumol do not cause adverse skin reactions such as peeling or swelling and soreness.

A series of 4-6 treatments may be necessary, every two weeks.

About Acne

Acne is a widespread skin disorder that occurs when hair follicles become obstructed by dead skin cells and excess sebum, which is the natural skin oil that prevents the skin from drying out.

Consequently, the epidermal layer of the skin develops acne, blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts. Teens and young adults are more prone to acne, but hormonal changes can also affect adults in their 40s and early 50s.

Various dietary and stress-related lifestyle factors, hormonal fluctuations, and genetic predispositions can induce acne too.

The Acne treatment process

Treatment options for acne differ according to the severity of the condition. For the treatment of moderate acne, topical medications such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinoids are the most frequently used. These help to unclog the pores and reduce irritation.

The most difficult part is identifying a combination that is suitable for your skin type which will produce long-lasting results.

The arrival of the ProXN line of skin care products offers hope for all acne sufferers as it is scientifically formulated to deliver the best results, without compromise. ProXN aims to support the health of your skin, with anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and brightening effects.

When acne is more severe, it may be necessary to consider the use of prescription medications. Treatment options include hormonal therapies, topical or oral antibiotics, and isotretinoin. Oral isotretinoin is a strong drug for treating serious acne, but it comes with its own side effects; therefore, Dr Mittal would only suggest it if she thought it is necessary.

It is possible to prevent acne scarring by managing acne at a mild to moderate stage before it progresses to a severe stage.

After assessing your lifestyle and skin condition, Dr Mittal will develop an individualised treatment regimen for you to have acne-free skin.

Acne treatment after care

ProXN Recovery Cleansing Oil has exceptional anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties and helps your skin by improving how it absorbs natural oils.

It is unique because it rejuvenates the skin, recharging it with important acids and oils that are lost during daily cleansing. By improving how your skin absorbs natural oils, whilst keeping it hydrated, ProXN Recovery Cleansing Oil helps to prevent a recurrence of acne.
