Pricing details for breast reduction

One of the first questions most people ask is simple: how much will it cost? The honest answer is that pricing depends on a few personal factors — how much tissue needs to be removed, how much time the procedure will take, and the level of complexity involved.

Because every patient’s body is different, Dr Gupta doesn’t hand out a fixed price list before meeting you. Instead, he’ll assess your breasts during a private consultation, talk through what’s realistic for your shape, and then give you a clear, tailored quote. There’s no obligation at this stage — the goal is simply to help you understand your options.

If oversized breasts are affecting your daily comfort or confidence, it’s worth having that conversation. Get in touch and take the first step toward finding out what a reduction could look like for you.

The patient journey

Consultation

Your first appointment is really a conversation. Dr Gupta will ask what’s bothering you physically, what you’re hoping to achieve, and what a “good result” looks like in your eyes. He’ll also gently manage expectations — there’s no such thing as a single “perfect” breast shape, and part of his job is helping you set goals that are realistic for your body.

Treatment

Dr Gupta’s technique relies on very fine microcannulas, unlike the larger instruments used in more traditional surgical approaches. That difference keeps entry points tiny — often around a millimetre — which tends to mean less bruising, less swelling, and far less blood loss than older methods.

Most patients are treated under local anaesthesia, sometimes with light sedation, so there’s no need for a general anaesthetic in suitable cases. You’ll typically go home the same day and be back to normal light activities within days rather than weeks.

Broadly, the procedure follows these stages:

  1. Measuring each breast to plan the reduction accurately.
  2. Marking the treatment area with surgical ink.
  3. Numbing the skin with a fine needle and local anaesthetic.
  4. Creating tiny 1mm entry points using a biopsy punch.
  5. Infiltrating the tissue with tumescent anaesthetic fluid.
  6. Removing excess fat through the microcannulas.
  7. Applying absorbent dressings to manage fluid drainage.
  8. Fitting a supportive compression garment.
  9. Adding elastic binders on top where needed, usually worn for the first 48 hours.

Aftercare

The first few days involve some fluid drainage, which is completely normal and settles within 2–4 days. You’ll wear a compression garment throughout this period, with dressings changed daily. Many patients notice their shoulders feel lighter almost immediately, even while some swelling is still present.

That swelling generally reduces over the following 4–6 weeks, and it’s common to feel some lumpiness in the breast tissue as it heals — this is a normal part of recovery, not a cause for concern. Most of the visible improvement settles in over roughly 8–16 weeks, with the compression garment playing an important role in keeping bleeding and swelling to a minimum.

Who is a good candidate for this type of breast reduction?

This approach tends to suit post-menopausal women whose breast tissue is mostly fatty rather than glandular — usually confirmed by a mammogram beforehand. Women who struggle with ill-fitting clothes, skin irritation under the breast, or grooved shoulders from bra straps often notice the biggest day-to-day improvement. For those considering breast reduction surgery in London, this technique may be an appropriate option depending on their individual assessment.

Will there be visible scarring?

Scarring is minimal, since entry points are only around 1mm wide. These tend to fade well and are far less noticeable than scars from conventional breast reduction surgery.

Will I need general anaesthesia?
Most breast reduction micro lipo procedures performed by Dr Gupta are carried out under tumescent local anaesthesia, sometimes with optional sedation if appropriate. This allows patients to avoid the risks and prolonged recovery associated with general anaesthesia.
Is the procedure painful?

Most patients describe it as more comfortable than they expected. The treated area is numbed throughout, and while some soreness and swelling follow afterwards, this is usually manageable with standard pain relief.

How long is the recovery period?

Most people are comfortable resuming gentle, everyday tasks within just a couple of days. From there, swelling keeps easing week by week, and the final shape usually becomes clear somewhere between the three and four month mark. If you’re planning breast reduction surgery in London, your surgeon will provide personalised recovery guidance based on your treatment and medical history.
