Consultation

You will be encouraged to talk during your first visit about what you want, your expectations, your hopes and your possible concerns about the surgery. Dr Gupta and his expert team will help you establish realistic objectives and clarify how you would fit during the procedure. There are many errors in form and balance and what people believe to be “perfect” breasts when the truth is very different (spoiler alert: they don’t exist).

Dr Gupta will explain before the procedure how he will create a more aesthetic breast in proportion to your shape, balance and your desires.

Treatment

The microlipo method restricts the incision sizes by applying small microcannulas, which reduces swelling and bruising compared to older methods and reduces blood loss to zero.

It is usually performed by local anaesthesia, rather than general anaesthesia, with minimal post-operative pain and a rapid recovery. Patients leave the clinic the same day and are back in their ordinary routine in a matter of days.

Dr Gupta’s expertise in tumescent fat treatment naturally lifts them as well as reducing breast size. The procedure reduces the breast by more than half and, with the removal of fat, then liposuction can retract and cause a visible lift to the natural elastic tissue in the breast. The breasts are not changing in form but smaller and lifted.

Micro lipo breast reduction in steps:

Measure the volume of each breast.
Draw lines on the breasts using indelible ink for the infiltration process and operation.
The smallest needle possible is used to inject a local anaesthetic into the skin.
Tiny 1mm adits are made in the skin with a biopsy punch.
Tumescent local anaesthesia is infiltrated into the breasts.
Liposuction of the breast is carried out via the microcannulas.
Industrial-strength absorbent pads are placed on the breasts.
A breast compression garment is applied.
If necessary, further adjustable elastic binders are placed on top of the breast compression garment, kept 48 hours after the procedure.

Aftercare

It takes 2-4 days until all leakage decreases. You need to wear after operational compression clothing. Dressings should be changed every day. In the first week, most women are feeling lighter on their shoulders. However, there will be some swelling, which will decrease in size in the next 4-6 weeks.

It’s quite normal for the breasts to feel lumpy right after liposuction. They are not entirely visible and normal in the healing process.

Patients experience a progressive decrease in swelling during the next 8-16 weeks following a breast micro lipo operation. The use of open drainage and proper compression clothing produces minimal bleeding.

Breast lumps are possible but are temporary, may appear after liposuction. The patient may report feeling it in the skin for several weeks after surgery, but it is not visible, and it is part of the normal healing process.

Who is suitable for breast reduction with liposuction?

Post-Menopausal women with heavy, fatty breasts who experience discomfort such as neck pain, shoulder grooving, skin irritation, difficulty exercising, or clothing issues may be suitable candidates. The best results are usually seen in women whose breasts contain more fatty tissue and who have reasonable skin elasticity.

Breast reduction with micro liposuction is primarily suitable for post-menopausal women who have stopped having periods for at least 3 years. After menopause, the breast tissue becomes predominantly fatty rather than glandular, which makes liposuction-based reduction more effective and predictable.

A mammogram is usually required before treatment to assess the breast composition and confirm that the breasts are mainly fatty tissue. This also forms part of the routine safety assessment prior to the procedure.

During consultation, Dr Gupta carefully evaluates breast tissue quality, skin elasticity, medical history, and overall suitability before advising whether this technique is appropriate for you.

Can breast reduction help with neck, shoulder, and back pain?

Yes. Many women seek breast reduction because heavy breasts place strain on the neck, shoulders, and upper back. Reducing breast volume can significantly improve comfort, posture, mobility, and quality of life.

Will I need general anaesthesia?

Most breast reduction micro lipo procedures performed by Dr Gupta are carried out under tumescent local anaesthesia, sometimes with optional sedation if appropriate. This allows patients to avoid the risks and prolonged recovery associated with general anaesthesia.

Will there be scars?

Only tiny entry points are used for the microcannulas, typically around 1 mm in size. These usually heal extremely well and are barely noticeable over time compared with traditional breast reduction scars.

Will my breasts look lifted after the procedure?

Many women notice a natural lifting effect after breast reduction micro lipo. As volume and weight are reduced, the skin often retracts and tightens naturally, helping the breasts appear lighter and more elevated.

How much reduction can be achieved?

The amount of reduction varies depending on breast composition, skin quality, and anatomy. During consultation, Dr Gupta assesses what can be achieved safely while maintaining natural proportion and shape.

Is breast reduction painful?

Patients usually describe the procedure as far more comfortable than expected. During the treatment, the area is numbed with tumescent local anaesthesia. Afterwards, soreness, swelling, and tenderness are expected but are generally manageable with simple pain relief.

How long does recovery take?

Most patients return to light daily activities within a few days. Swelling gradually improves over several weeks, with continued refinement over 3–4 months.

Will I need to wear a compression garment?

Yes. A supportive compression garment is usually worn continuously for the first 3–4 days after the procedure, until the normal tumescent fluid leakage stops. This leakage is an expected part of recovery after tumescent micro liposuction.

Compression garments immediately after surgery help minimise swelling, support healing, and encourage skin retraction.

How long will swelling last?

Some swelling is expected initially and improves significantly within 4–6 weeks.

Is it normal to feel lumps after breast liposuction?

Yes. Temporary lumpiness or firmness can occur during healing and is considered a normal part of the recovery process. These areas usually soften gradually over time.

Can breast reduction affect mammograms?

A baseline mammogram is often recommended before and after treatment. Future mammograms can still be performed normally, but it is important to inform the radiographer about previous breast procedures.

Will I lose sensation in my nipples?

Temporary changes in sensation can occur after any breast procedure, but permanent changes are less common with micro liposuction compared with more invasive breast reduction surgery.

What is female breast reduction?

Breast reduction or mammoplasty reduction is used to reduce excess fat, tissue and breast skin.

Breast reduction with micro liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure designed to reduce the size and weight of the breasts using tiny cannulas and tumescent local anaesthesia. Unlike traditional breast reduction surgery, this technique avoids large surgical scars and general anaesthesia in suitable patients.

Over-sized breasts can cause a range of physical symptoms, including neck and shoulder pain, bra strap indentations, skin irritation, rashes, and bruising. Many women also struggle to find well-fitting clothing and supportive bras.
